ejectment - a legal action by a property owner to regain possession of property not subject to a lease; an action brought to regain possession of property subject to a contractual agreement such as a conditional sales contract. An example is an action by a landowner to remove squatters from his or her property. Some states permit the use of ejectment as an alternative to foreclosure in certain circumstances.
