escrow account - (also called impound account or trust account) an account set up so that deposits are made to a neutral party, who is then responsible for passing along the payments to the appropriate payees. Escrow accounts are typically used to satisfy parties that certain critical payments, such as property taxes, are made in a timely fashion.
