Federal Home Loan Banks - a series of 12 regional banks, established during the depression of the 1930s, designed to support the new federally chartered savings and loan associations and to provide needed liquidity. They are regulated by the Federal Housing Finance Board, formerly the Federal Home Loan Bank Board (FHLBB), under the Office of Thrift Supervision (OTS), DepartĀ­ment of the Treasury.
