judgment lien - a legal document filed to enforce a judgment against the assets of a judgment creditor. The lien does not, in itself, compel sale of the asset. Rather, it places the world at large on notice that the asset is encumbered by the lien. If the asset is sold or otherwise transferred, the lien must be paid. See also writ of execution.
