real property securities registration - the general process of notifying appropriate government agencies, including the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and state securities commissions, of one's intention to offer securities backed by real estate to investors and thereafter complying with all required disclosures to investors. The intent of the registration is to prevent fraud and oppression. There are certain exemptions for the registration requirements for private offerings and securities not offered across state lines.
